Kenwood KAC-9104D Mono Amplifer Review

Product Review
This amplifier is a mono amplifier that is rated at 500 watts rms at 4 ohms and 900 watts at 2 ohms. It is stable at 1 ohm, but Kenwood does not offer any power ratings at 1 ohm. It is budget amplifier. It has a removeable sheild that allows you to adjust the gain, boost, and crossover. It has a subsonic filter and infrasonic filter. It is a dual mono amplifier. It has two 30 amp fuses.

Price
The Kenwood KAC-9104D Mono Amplifer sells for around $200. You can find it refurbished for a little cheaper online. It provides alot of power for how inexpensive it is.

My Personal Review
My personal opinion of this amplifier is that it is a great amplifier for your first sub amplifier or first system. It is very inexpensive and provides decent output. This was my first amplifier and was a great learning basis. I had it pushing two MTX 4500 10" subwoofers. each sub could take 225 watts rms. They were wired to 2 ohms. The subs were in a sealed box though, so I fed the subs over the 225 watts regularly. The amp did very well, but I do not think that amplifier can truly push 900 watts rms. It is one ohm stable. I had 4 10" subs wired to 1 ohm hooked up to the amplifier at one point and I really doubt the amp gains any power from the low resistance. All in all it was a great amp for the price. The thing to watch out for is that there are alot of these amps selling on ebay as refurbs. I would consider that a warning that it probably has some faulty circuitry if you happen to be the unlucky person that gets a lemon of an amplifier.

If I ever do a cheap install in the future where I just need a little bit of power for a good price, I would definitely buy this amplifier again. It's not my first choice though.
